Scarborough

The youngest of the stores, Scarborough (Ryedale) opened in 2015 in response to demand in both Scarborough and neighbouring Ryedale. The store serves a broad area encompassing Whitby all the way to Bridlington and Driffield.
Like all our stores, Scarborough is primarily focused on the collection of donated furniture and electricals. The store has built close links with local charities and support services and offers tailored volunteering opportunities to the community.
I’m giving 5 stars for this establishment for the project itself and for the lovely helpfull staff. I will be going there in the future before looking elsewhere for my needs.
Wow what can I say the staff was so pleasant and helpful. They gave me some very good advice and really took care of my needs. A big shout out to everyone that works there including the 2 gentleman who delivered my furniture and to Mandy and Jason who really went out of their way.
A hidden gem in Scarborough that everyone should know about.
The Community Furniture Store in Scarborough isn’t just a shop – it’s a place filled with heart, kindness, and soul. The furniture here is more than second-hand – it’s carefully chosen, lovingly cleaned, and waiting to begin a new chapter in a new home. Every piece feels like it has a story, and thanks to the wonderful team, it gets a chance to continue it.
What truly makes this place special is the people. Mandy, the manager, is one of the warmest, kindest souls you’ll ever meet – being around her feels like visiting an old friend, not shopping. The owners genuinely listen to customers, value feedback, and go above and beyond to make sure everyone leaves happy. They even offer a 10% discount for Blue Light Card holders – something you rarely see elsewhere, especially in charity shops.
The volunteers are just as incredible – friendly, helpful, and clearly passionate about the work they do. You can feel the sense of care the moment you walk in. It’s almost impossible to leave this place without a smile on your face (and maybe a beautiful new piece of furniture in your car).
Scarborough is lucky to have this treasure. More people need to discover it – and once they do, they’ll keep coming back.

Brilliant experience. The staff were friendly, helpful and super accommodating. They were also very considerate of LGBTQ+ families, and people on low incomes. Furniture selection was really good and seemed to be in very high quality, and staff said they actually had a smaller selection than usual.
First time visiting from malton and I can’t say how much these guys impressed us and made our day. Managed to get our hands on such a good quality sofa in tiptop shape for an amazing price along with a single chair and a puffy set. Staff helped the entire process of buying, they were so lovely and helpful and had a great sense of humour.
Thank you!
